ABSTRACT: The mechanical properties of Fibre Reinforced Cementitious matrix were determined through an experimental programme. These mechanical properties involve compressive strength, flexural strength, shear strength and peel off strength. The project scope is limited to these properties only. Materials involved in sample preparation are concrete, basalt fibre, mortar and steel. Five tests were performed for the determination of mechanical properties. Compression test was performed to determine the compressive strength of mortar cubes, three point bending tests to determine the flexural strength of strips made up of fibre and mortar by varying the number of roving of fibre, and to determine the effectiveness of fibre in enhancing the flexural capacity of RC beams, shear and pull out tests performed on RC blocks to determine the bonding strength between fibre and mortar under shear and pull out forces. Through these experiments it is conducted that FRCM was found to be effective in enhancing the flexural strength of the RC beams and strips. For compressive strength a good agreement was found between the experimental values and the value provided by the manufacturer.
